For GPs – How It Works
Simple and quick process to keep you informed

Step 1
Email the referral
Please send a standard GP referral (PDF or scanned letter) to intake@lunea.com.au. Referrals may request either:
-
a Psychiatric Assessment (3-appointment pathway), or
-
Item 291 / 92435 assessment (single appointment with written management plan)a Medicare
Include the patient’s full name, date of birth, phone number, and email to ensure we can contact them promptly.
Step 2
The referral is reviewed
Our intake team reviews all referrals within five business days to confirm suitability and determine the appropriate assessment pathway.
We will contact the patient directly with next steps, fee information, and a link to book their initial appointment.
Step 3
Initial Video Appointment
We contact your client directly to arrange their first tele-psychiatry appointment.
-
Comprehensive Assessment Pathway: the psychiatrist begins a detailed diagnostic review, followed by two scheduled follow-up appointments.
-
Medicare Item 291 / 92435 assessment: a single comprehensive assessment is completed, forming the basis for the written management plan.
Step 4
Communication
A clear management letter - diagnosis, meds, follow-up plan - will be provided to you and your patient.
