Dr Karishma Kulkarni

Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Karishma Kulkarni is a psychiatrist with more than ten years of experience as a qualified consultant psychiatrist across India, UK and Australia. She has worked in public mental health and in private practice in the western suburbs of Melbourne. She is specialised and holds Certificates of Advanced Training in Adult Psychiatry and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.


Her main areas of interest are women's mental health, youth mental health, psychodynamic psychotherapy, refugee and asylum seeker mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders and psychiatry teaching and training.


She works in the Masters of Psychiatry program at the University of Melbourne as special topics subject tutor. She has published her research on delusional disorder, bipolar disorder, telepsychiatry and psychotherapy in international peer-reviewed journals.


Her style of working is collaborative, client-centred and trauma-sensitive. She is committed to using telehealth as a tool to provide equitable access to mental healthcare over all parts of Australia.

She is pursuing further training in the area of bioethics at present.
